Visiting Program Training
If you
are interested to learn history for the stories of
our elders and care about the needs of local
seniors, read on! Senior Services Foundation's
Friendly Visiting Program seeks volunteers to commit
to visit a senior who is isolated or feels alone.
The commitment scope includes 2 check-in telephone
calls and at least a 1 hour in person meeting per
week for 6 consecutive months. Our next volunteer
training is: Wednesday, February 16th and 23rd,
6pm-9pm at the Davis Street Family Resource Center,

The San
Leandro Chamber of Commerce
seeks an energetic, results orientated,
self-motivated professional with experience and
success in managing a mid size chamber operation or
a business organization of similar size. The
Chamber has a full complement of special events and
membership services, which ensures outstanding
community involvement. The qualified candidate will
have proven business management and leadership
skills will demonstrate expertise in collaborative
business development strategies, effective
communication, community involvement and the ability
to manage volunteer and staff resources.
History:
The San Leandro Chamber of Commerce
was founded 86 years ago and has evolved over the
years to include nearly 700 businesses and
individuals representing a diverse membership. A
major component of our organization is advocacy
efforts with local, county and state elected
officials, and we are often the first contact for
businesses and residents moving to San Leandro.
Role
Overview:
The
CEO reports to the Board of Directors and is
responsible for the overall management of the
organization, its financial sustainability, and the
oversight of both its day-to-day work and long-range
mission.
It is expected that the CEO will be an
entrepreneurial and compelling leader, able to work
at the intersection of strategic vision and
practical implementation. She/He should have deep
roots in the development and maintenance of varied
partnerships and be able to see issues through the
lenses of multiple constituency groups, while also
being able to maintain a commitment to the Chamber’s
mission. The successful candidate will be a credible
advocate for employer engagement in workforce
development. She/He should also be aware of, and
committed to promoting, promising practices in the
field. She/He will have demonstrated the ability to
establish relationships at the top levels of
business, government, and philanthropy.
The CEO should have a proven track record of
institutional image-building, fund development,
marketing, external relations, and demonstrate the
presence and capacity to lead initiatives forward in
each of these areas. Experience with fiscal and
operational management is critical. She/He should be
diplomatic but decisive, and able to accomplish
goals through motivation and delegation.
Some of the essential duties and responsibilities
include:

Forge and maintain
strategic alliances across the public, private
and nonprofit sectors
Ensure mission and financial stability and
sustainability through effective fund
development, sound fiscal management, and
programmatic and operational excellence

Lead the development
of strategic and business plans and work closely
with the Board and staff to shape, monitor and
support those plans
-
Represent the
Chamber to the public and its’ various
constituencies, heightening the organization’s
profile and compelling financial, policy, and
programmatic support
-
Work
with executive and Board leadership of the
Chamber of Commerce, to enhance public awareness
of the relationship and furthering coordination
between the organization’s initiatives
-
Work closely with
the Board of Directors to develop overall policy
for the organization and determine or refine
strategic direction. Ensure open communication
and flow of information to the Board

Serve as a driving
force for attracting, hiring, developing and
retaining a highly-skilled professional staff.
Inspire, guide, develop and support staff to be
successful in their jobs.

Develop
and systemize organizational infrastructure, to
include staff advancement and wage growth plans

Identify
and assess business and demographic trends,
partner and client needs, and opportunities for
the purpose of informing and refining the
Chamber’s areas of activity
Qualifications:
The CEO may come from a
variety of leadership experiences, including having
served as the president/executive director of
another chamber, a not-for-profit advocacy
organization, a private sector corporate executive
or in a senior-level government position. Wherever
experience has been gained, it is imperative that
the CEO possess the leadership, motivational and
diplomatic skills to marshal the resources necessary
to manage and sustain the growth and excellence of
the organization.

is a full-time position. Salary range $75,000 plus
annually, based on experience. Medical, dental and
retirement benefits complement the total

(Maximum age 35yrs) to young people in community
college vocational training programs in Alameda
County. Full time students earning passing grades,
