The Leadership San
Leandro program is based on the belief that our
City's most valuable resource is its people. The
program is open to a diverse cross-section of
individuals with a desire to educate themselves with
vital community information along with reinforcing
their leadership skills and ownership in the
community.
About
The Program
Since leaders are needed to serve on many boards,
commissions, community groups and in elected
positions, a constant stream of new leaders, ready
and able to lead, is required every year.
Since
1994, Leadership
San Leandro has been accomplishing
its goals through a two-day opening retreat and a
series of nine monthly one-day sessions, beginning
in September through June. All of the sessions are
designed to be highly interactive, stimulating and
thought provoking. The materials and subject matter
for each session is carefully selected to represent
a wide perspective and problem solving approaches to
the issues that impact our community.
The
participants are truly the strength of the program.
Candidacy is open to all interested residents and/or
employees/employers of the city of San Leandro who
seek to contribute their particular skills,
knowledge and expertise to the betterment of the
community.
Participants are selected to represent a wide mix
of ages, races and genders. Membership in the San
Leandro Chamber of Commerce is not a requirement.
Some partial scholarships are available for those
who qualify. All participants must be committed to
completing the entire program.
