Connect with Our Political Voice
Every day, your Chamber is busy promoting,
improving and protecting business. We know you are
busy running your business and want to make it
easier for you to get information and voice your
opinion on pertinent issues.
Government Affairs
This
group meets monthly to work on public policy matters
along with the continued economic health of our
community which may come before the San Leandro City
Council and Commissions; State Legislature; County
of Alameda and Federal Government. The Committee
recommends positions on various issues and ballot
measures. The Committee meets the 3rd Monday of
every month at noon at the Chamber.

Our members are represented with
testimony at local government meetings including
City Council meetings, work sessions and committees,
City Commission meetings, and San Leandro and San
Lorenzo School Boards. The Chamber voice represents
more than 800 businesses employing over 75,000
workers and makes a difference in the votes of our
elected officials. In 2006 alone, your Chamber
attended more than 120 meetings totaling over 200
hours on behalf of business.
The San Leandro link includes a calendar of upcoming
Public Hearings as well as contact information for
our elected officials.
We also believe we need to have our voices heard in
our nation's and state's capitals and be aware of
what is happening in Washington and Sacramento. The
Chamber CEO is in frequent contact with the staff of
Senator Ellen Corbett and Assemblymember Mary Hayashi and
visits the state capital regularly to attend hearings
and communicate the business message. He also
attends the annual US Chamber Government Affairs
Conference in San Francisco and the California
Chamber Legislative Summit in Sacramento.
The California and United States links include vital
political resources to see what bills are up in the
state and federal levels, find out what others have
to say about issues, and voice your opinions
directly to our representatives.
The information on these pages will change
periodically, depending on the current issues. Our
Government Affairs/Economic Development Committee
will be prioritizing several bills that will be
tracked on these sites, as well as a voting report
of our legislators. We will also provide election
measures analysis and recommendations. From time to
time we will ask you to communicate with our
legislators and will provide sample letters for you
to download and customize on your own letterhead.
We welcome your input on these pages. Feel free
